At Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City, we believe every child should have access to sports, where they can learn teamwork, fair play, and the value of hard work. Our sports programs serve over 5,000 kids and teens, helping them reach educational goals, improve character, and increase scholarship opportunities—all while staying active and having fun. We offer affordable options that ensure more kids can participate, because every child deserves the chance to thrive both on the field and in life.

Basketball

Presented by Live Like Luke, our co-ed basketball league offers youth ages 5-12 the chance to develop their skills in a fun, supportive environment. Each season includes seven Saturday games, running from mid-January to early March, with a post-season tournament in the final week. With games held at local gym facilities, kids of all skill levels can learn basketball fundamentals, teamwork, and leadership. Our league is affordable and accessible, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to participate, grow, and have fun.

Flag Football

Our co-ed flag football league offers youth ages 5-12 the chance to learn the fundamentals of the game in a safe, non-contact environment. Players build coordination, teamwork, and sportsmanship while enjoying a fun and fast-paced version of the game. The league includes an 8-game regular season played over six weeks, followed by a post-season tournament in the 7th week. Whether new to the sport or looking to sharpen their skills, every participant is encouraged to grow and have fun.

Track & Field

Thanks to our partnership with the Palestine Prowlers Track Club, Boys & Girls Club members can participate in either the Mini Team (ages 5-8) or the Senior Team (ages 9-17) at a discounted rate. This is an exciting opportunity for youth to join a well-established program focused on fitness, discipline, and competition.

Baseball & Softball : Royals RBI

In partnership with the Kansas City Parks & Recreation and the Kansas City MLB Urban Youth Academy, our baseball and softball leagues offer youth access to top-quality coaching, training, and facilities. We’re bringing the love of these sports back to the heart of our community, providing players the opportunity to build skills, sportsmanship, and a lifelong passion for the game. Whether kids are beginners or ready to advance, our leagues foster a supportive environment for personal growth and athletic development.

Soccer

Our soccer program promotes fitness, teamwork, and coordination in a fun, supportive environment. Open to all skill levels, members engage in casual play and drills that build endurance, agility, and sportsmanship. Whether they're just learning the game or improving existing skills, soccer helps youth stay active and healthy while fostering cooperation and confidence. Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City and AYSO PLAY! (American Youth Soccer Organization) are hosting FREE soccer training for boys and  at the Thornberry Unit (3831 E. 43rd Street, Kansas City, MO 64130).

Training dates (2 sessions for each date; max 30 youth per session): March 25, March 27, April 1, April 3, April 8, April 10, April 15, April 17, April 22, April 24, April 29, May 1, May 6, May 8.

Session One: 5:30 - 6:15 pm

Session Two: 6:15 - 7 pm

Golf

Our David E. Price Jr. Golf Program, in partnership with First Tee, offers young members an exciting and structured introduction to golf, focusing on both skill development and personal growth. Through First Tee’s proven curriculum, participants receive instruction on essential golf techniques, including swings, putting, and course etiquette, while also developing life skills like confidence, resilience, and respect. Open to youth of all experience levels, the program provides equipment and professional instruction, ensuring that everyone can participate. For more information please contact Waymond King at wKing@helpkckids.org.

Swimming & Aquatics

Members have access to a competition-size pool at select locations, where they can participate in swimming lessons or recreational swim sessions. Our swimming program emphasizes water safety, building confidence, and promoting physical health in a fun, active environment. When swimming is available, parents will be notified, and participation will be optional. Contact Waymond King at wKing@helpkckids.org for more information.

Our youth sports programs rely on passionate volunteer coaches to help guide and inspire young athletes. Whether you’re an experienced coach or simply love sports and want to make a difference, we welcome your involvement.
