15 and the Mahomies Unit
The 15 and the Mahomies Unit provides a safe, enriching environment where youth in Independence can explore academic, recreational, and leadership opportunities. Originally established in 2004 through a merger with Boys & Girls Clubs of Eastern Jackson County, this Club was transformed by a significant remodeling effort in 2012 with support from Major League Baseball, the Kansas City Royals, and other dedicated Club partners. In 2014, a $1.6 million Teen Center was added, creating even more resources for local youth.
Now, with a transformative commitment from the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation, led by Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, the newly named 15 and the Mahomies Unit will continue to expand its impact on Greater Kansas City’s youth. This partnership enhances our ability to provide critical programs and positive spaces, ensuring that our young members have the support they need to succeed both in and out of school.
