ACADEMY AWARD WINNING ACTOR AL PACINO TO HEADLINE KIDS NIGHT OUT EVENT ON MARCH 28, 2014
A benefit for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City
Kansas City, Mo – Michael Douglas, Julie Andrews, Sidney Poitier, John Travolta, Bill Cosby, Jay Leno, Muhammad Ali; these are just some of the “A” list celebrities who have been featured at the Clubs’ annual Kids Night Out event. Academy Award Winning Actor Al Pacino will join this list of names as he is set to headline the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City’s 2014 Kids Night Out event to be held at the Overland Park Convention Center in Overland Park, KS on March 28, 2014.
Through prestigious roles and his forceful dramatic presentation, Al Pacino has established himself as one of the most enduring and iconic figures in American film. Pacino, a native of New York, made his feature film debut in 1969’s Me, Natalie. It was his third film that truly solidified his place in film history, playing the role of Michael Corleone in The Godfather.
Pacino is also known for his work as Tony Montana in Scarface and Frank Slade, a blind, retired Lt. Colonel, in Scent of a Woman, the role which earned him the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1993. In addition to an Oscar, Pacino has won a Tony Award, an Emmy Award, two Golden Globe Awards and the American Film Institute Lifetime Achievement Award, one of the highest accolades the motion picture industry can offer.
“Our annual Kids Night Out event has grown to become one of the premiere events in the greater Kansas City community,” said David A. Smith, President and Club Alumnus of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City. “This is an exciting year, as we bring in a true Hollywood icon to help encourage our youth and provide even more young people with the opportunity for a great future.”
The 2014 Kids Night Out event will raise funds to support the annual operating budget of five area Club locations serving nearly 1,000 youth each day – and all money raised stays right here in Kansas City.
