“I volunteer with Boys & Girls Clubs because the staff is very caring and appreciative towards their volunteers and all of the kids. I always leave a volunteer activity feeling like I have really accomplished something important that will benefit the kids and the staff that are involved with the Boys & Girls Clubs."
Karen Garrison
Special Event Volunteer
Nothing feels better than knowing you are truly making a difference in a young person’s life. When you volunteer, not only do you benefit, but more importantly, the experience you are giving that child is priceless. We encourage YOU to help; whether you are an individual or with a group – corporate, church or community service – all hands and hearts are welcome. There are various locations and opportunities to accommodate your busy schedule. You must be 16 years or older to volunteer.
Volunteers working with youth must complete a Boys & Girls Clubs volunteer application and a Request for Child Abuse or Neglect/Criminal Record application from the state in which you would like to volunteer. The background check is for your protection and for the protection of our members. Once the state has cleared the request, you can be placed into a rewarding volunteer position. The process takes approximately two weeks.
General Volunteer Opportunities We want to make your volunteer experience with the Clubs as meaningful and convenient as possible. There are many potential volunteer activities, including:
- Mentor a child
- Provide job shadowing opportunities
- Help train youth on computers
- Provide homework assistance/tutoring
- Teach digital photography, computer arts or other art techniques
- Start a choir or teach a dance class
- Coach an RBI team
- Tutor a child
